This month Lauren sat down with Brad Reubendale the Executive Director of Minds Matter Colorado.
Minds Matter Colorado is one of 14 Minds Matter chapters across the nation that works to provide high-achieving, low income students with the support necessary for future success. MMCO seeks to close the achievement gap and increase college admissions rates for low income students in Colorado. They take on this challenge with 100 percent success by offering personalized mentoring and a rigorous program schedule to a selection of Colorado high school students. With their help they consistently see an increase in students’ academic performance, improved leadership skills and higher SAT scores.
Minds Matter Colorado is committed to each student. Every student has two mentors devoted to their growth and achievement. Mentors are typically young professionals who possess an unwavering belief in the power of education. Our commitment does not end there. MMCO provides transportation and access to laptops, Internet, meals, certified test prep specialists and leadership. All of these efforts are successful because of volunteers; our volunteers make the dreams of these students’ a reality.
